Portofino. Where Love Holds and the Nervous System Softens

This is luxury emotional wellness — the kind where love becomes nervous system medicine

True Masculinity: Presence Over Performance

A private beach with an incredibly beautiful view of yachts and hotels peeking through cedar trees.
Watching people standing on the pier under the blazing sun, waiting their turn for a sea excursion…
Meanwhile, enjoying all the beautiful photos people take on the rocks, lining up one after another to catch the perfect angle…

What I love about Portofino is that from the beach you can easily, calmly, and carefree walk to the center when it gets too hot, grab the most delicious Italian gelato, stop by the local patisserie where tables sit outside and people savor each bite of happiness without counting time or calories, soaking in moments of heavenly pleasure.
Pop into my favorite local perfume shop and smile imagining yourself in a T-shirt shouting, “Kiss me in Portofino.”

Everything here breathes pleasure and presence.

And somehow, it all feels… safe.
Like your nervous system finally exhales.

Recharged with that Italian vibe, licking melting gelato on the go while carefully crossing the street so a local macho doesn’t knock you down (because in Portofino, some rules simply don’t exist).
With a smile and the feeling of childlike joy, return to the beach to continue living in the moment, thinking:

Happiness exists… Here and now…

It was at that moment I noticed a middle-aged couple who had arrived at our beach.
A handsome, tanned Italian man and a lady in a wheelchair wearing a hat.

Since they settled near us, I couldn’t help but notice them. I have spent almost my entire life working with people, and since 2019, specifically with people with cerebral palsy.

I watched how he cared for his lady—placing the wheelchair in the shade to make her comfortable, how this man surrounded her with attention and care, how this woman became his center of the universe among women of different ages and body types on the neighboring beaches.
To him, she was his gravitational center; other women simply did not exist.

He radiated true masculine energy—reliability, care, strength, devotion, and stability.
The very qualities some men have lost, forgetting that a man is made strong by tempering himself, not by pampering his reflection in the mirror.
Some lose themselves in superficial things instead of building inner armor to be a support for someone.
That a true man is strength inside and out—not merely physical traits.
That a man is a fortress for a woman—a quiet harbor in Portofino where she can relax and feel loved, valued, and unique… just for him… the one.

Such a man can be trusted, which means a woman can “take off her armor” and simply be… a woman.

Beachside stillness in Portofino, showing feminine softness held by grounded masculine energy

This is what it means to regulate your nervous system — as a man and as a woman.

Not cold detachment, but grounded presence.
Not dominance, but deep capacity to co-hold emotions without collapse.

And yet, despite the beauty of moments like this, the reality is challenging for many couples.
Statistics show that nearly 30% of couples break up within the first year, often overwhelmed by emotional disconnect before even settling into life together.
By the third year, around 60% face serious challenges or separate as the initial glow fades and the deeper work begins.

And within seven years, many relationships falter or end, with divorce rates reaching close to 50% in some countries.

These numbers remind me that love is not easy—it requires ongoing care, patience, and emotional investment.
But watching this couple, I saw the opposite: a love that is a refuge, a foundation, a bridge that holds steady.

Because emotional safety is not a buzzword.

It’s the bedrock of real love.
Without it, desire dies. With it, it deepens.

In that moment, I thought: Who still believes that true love no longer exists?

But I believe in love.
And I continue to believe that this bright, genuine feeling, if true, can endure any trial and grow stronger—become a real bridge, support, and foundation for two people who love each other truly.

Because sexual energy is life energy.

And that energy—in both men and women—flows through a regulated body.
Not through tension or control, but through openness, stability, and emotional freedom.

Do you believe in love that can survive everything?
